A large Metcard ticket vending machine is located inside the waiting area, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins, as well as a myki ticket vending machine. Two trains ran to Lilydale each day and five only to Box Hill. Engineers were initially unwilling to allow trains to stop at Surrey Hills platform claiming potential difficulties with the gradient, and also that there was not enough traffic to warrant the stop.
